CHANGING TEXT

Sometimes, you just want to write like this.

Use this code, replacing the [ ] [] with < > < > and the FONT NAME with the font of your choosing. I'm going to use MV Boli... Because I kind of love it.

TEXT HERE

I'm writing in MV Boli!

Now just switch the symbols, and voila!
I'm writing in MV Boli!

It's just that simple.
Or you can be lazy, and copy it from the box.

NOT ALL FONTS WILL WORK ON LIVEJOURNAL. You may have to experiment and test a bit to see.

LJ symbol cheat sheet!

Sometimes we want to put in lots of effort to do coding perfectly. Sometimes a cheat sheet is all we need, though. To use any of these symbols, just copy and past them. It's as easy as that. I don't remember where I found this set, unfortunately. But I added a couple to it and it should work just fine. ♥

More spam is coming.

Here's a quick one! Let's say you want to embed a picture, without using photobucket's code on your page. Something that can't be used as a link to their site, or another image hosting site. Well, this is how. Take this post and it's wording with a grain of salt. I'm tired.

Use this code, replacing the [ ] with < > and the imagegohere.png with the link of your choosing. I'm going to use a random picture from my photobucket as an example.

Now just switch the symbols, and voila!

It's just that simple. Or you can be lazy, and copy it from the box.

How to make a simple HTML border:

[div style="width:200px;height:100px;border:1px solid black;"]
Add text here
[/div]

Just change [] to <>, and replace Add text here with what you deem fit.
Or you can be lazy, and copy it from the box.

To Make Textarea Boxes...

Okay, this is a pretty fun one, especially if you want to shove a lot of information in a small space. To make a Textarea box, just use this format!

[textarea]Your text here.[/textarea]

Just substitute <> for []! It's as simple as that! This one is especially good for memes.

One small one, before I run!

To make a basic HTML heart, just type out &_hearts_;
Just leave out the underscores.
Or just copy this, it usually works just fine. ♥

Tiny icons!

So! Today we're going over how to change the tiny icons for community names/journal names/etc into something cuter. First, you need to pick out a set of tiny icons. For my LJ, I used tiny sushi pixels found over at pixelpeach. Totally a community worth checking out! Just check the tags, you'll find loads of good things to use! But as long as you have permission to use a tiny icon or pixel for this, any of them can be used.

Upload the icons of choice to whatever image hosting site you use. And then, go to the tiny icon generator by malionette. The generator can be found here. Fill in the blanks with your image URL/direct link, and it does the rest for you. All you need to do now is paste it into your custom CSS box, which can be found by going to 'HOME', and then to 'JOURNAL', and then to 'JOURNAL STYLE', and then to 'CUSTOMIZE SELECTED THEME', and finally to 'CUSTOM CSS'. All you need to do now is paste, and save. You're good to go!

Note, some pixels need crediting for use. If so, please credit the maker in your profile.

Cut Texts Are Love

Okay, just one here, but I'd like to stress how important it is. CUT TEXTS, PLEASE USE THEM.
Some LJ's can't handle large pictures, or large blocks of text. Some people don't want to see offensive topics, spoilers, or NSFW pictures. Also, some communities insist on having them.

Now that we know how to use that kind of link, how about making a LJ username link?
[lj-cut text="Read more"] and follow it up with [/lj-cut]. You need to do both.
Just change [] to <>, and replace Read more with what you deem fit.
Or you can be lazy, and copy it from the box.
